We welcomed almost 600 attendees, listened to more than 60 inspiring talks, hosted one AI.Monday and organised five workshops on top of the regular conference schedule.

Each year we kick off Berlin Buzzwords with a barcamp on Sunday afternoon. For first-time attendees the concept of a barcamp can be a bit of an enigma. Questions I‘m frequently asked include: What exactly is a barcamp? Who should attend? How can I prepare? And what‘s in it for me?
Since our Call for Submissions closed in February, our program committee have been hard at work evaluating the record number of submissions we received this year. The quality of proposals this year was amazing, and we are very happy to announce the first confirmed speakers for Berlin Buzzwords 2019.

For the latest episode of our conversation series Nina spoke to Berlin Buzzwords co-founder Simon Willnauer.
As well as his involvement in Berlin Buzzwords Simon is also a co-founder of Elastic. He is an Apache Lucene core committer and Apache Software Foundation Member. He has been involved with Apache Lucene since 2006 and has contributed to several other open source projects within and outside the Apache Software Foundation.

The call for submissions for Berlin Buzzwords 2019 has ended with a new record! We are really happy to announce that we have received almost 150 abstracts! We would like to thank everyone for participating and helping us make history and celebrate out 10th edition.
We want Berlin Buzzwords to be as accessible as possible for everyone. We know that having children can often make attending conferences a bit of a headache, as finding childcare in a new city can be confusing and difficult. That's why we have decided to partner with Holiday Sitters to give you the opportunity to enjoy the conference and know your child or your children are in good hands.
