As a volunteer you will help us on site with the organizing of the conference. In exchange for 8 hours of volunteering you will get a free ticket for the whole conference including food and drinks, plus a Berlin Buzzwords 2019 t-shirt - and of course our eternal gratitude!
Get an idea of what volunteering at Berlin Buzzwords is like from our podcast interview with long term volunteer Thomas Bodner:
Do you want to be involved in the organization of this year's #bbuzz? Send an email to: volunteer@berlinbuzzwords.de. Please include which of the three following tasks you would prefer to do. We will try to take your preferences into account but can’t promise anything. Of course you will have the final say on the shift you take.
Volunteering options in a nutshell:
- Build up/Break down
- takes place on Sunday and Tuesday before and after the conference so you don’t miss any of the talks!
- Registration
- an easy job during the conference at the registration desk. You welcome the speakers and your fellow participants, handing out badges and printed programs.
- Stage Manager
- you introduce the speakers and their talks on stage, this is a great chance to have a little chat with some of our amazing speakers before the talk begins.
Detailed description of the options:
Join our build up/break down team on Sunday and Tuesday if you don't want to miss any of the conference. Build up mainly consists of putting up some signs, placing the speaker tables and stage decorations as well as preparing the registration desk. This role consists of two four hours shifts on Sunday and Tuesday.
On Monday or Tuesday you can to support us with the registration or as a runner. At the registration desk you will be handing out tickets, wrist bands and the printed program. You should be able to communicate well and have solid knowledge of English. As a runner you will jump in wherever you are needed. For example bringing a HDMI adapter to one of the stages or replacing a sign that has fallen off the wall.
Become a Stage manager on Monday or Tuesday. Keep an overview of your stage, introduce the speakers to the audience and make sure that all speakers have what they need. Stage managers are the link between the audience, speakers, the stage technicians (video recording and sound) and the #bbuzz team. With this responsibility comes the amazing opportunity to have a little chat before the talk with some of the speakers – a opportunity many volunteers have found to be a great experience.
